I stumbled on your message late last night at a point of total frustration with researching. Sounds like we are both confused. I have FamilyTree Maker, and a small subscription to MyTree.com. Admittedly I am BRAND new at this, don't have bunches of money for a new CD for every search and was somewhat relieved to see someone feels like I do. Going into this I didn't realize the "controls" on info. and the high cost involved. I hope to learn to rip-offs from the real sites. Do not have anything profound to add, just wanted to say I feel your pain :} and we'll get there !! Pattie
