Hi, sorry to take so long to answer, busy busy and travelling. My Courtneys are from the Parish of Drung (means meeting place and legend is that St Patrick came there to convert having seen a gathering of people from across the valley. Margaret Courtney b.1808 d1892 (child Of James Courtney and Mary Gibson) emigrated to Australia with husband Richard Moore b.1814 d.1883 (son of Jason Moore and Esther Meredith)aboard Champion in 1840, travelling with William Moore, Sarah Moore nee Brown, James Brown and Sarah Brown nee Moore, Thomas Broown and Margaret Brown nee Phillips. They were related one way or another as you can see. Thomas and William were twins and cousin of Richard. Richard and Margaret were pioneers of the Queanbeyan NSW district. Mary wrote to Margaret from Rakenny (Rathkenny) in 1864 mentioning brothers, sister Bessie writes sending her love along with Mary and Edward's in 1888 and in a previous letter she says that Edward may see Sally (Sarah) sometime but not while she is alive. I hope this helps. The family left behind in Ireland later lived in Dublin in Upper Abbey St and also Upper Erne St. I found the geneological society in Cavan Town very helpful - cost involved.
