I have a lot of Wilson census tracking sheets from Haywood & Jackson Counties, NC that I copied from census records years ago, as there are Wilsons allied with my Hoopers. I have what Edward gave you, except James stated he was born Dec 1861 and had been married 15 years. Florence stated she was born Dec 1868, had given birth to 7 children and 5 of them were living. Elvin E. born Apr 1886; Elsa b. Mar 1889, Eddie b. Sep 1891, Harlon F. born Oct 1896 and Etta M. born Sep 1898. I had not followed up on them in 1910 or 1920. I have him in my data as James R. Wilson, the son of Thomas H. Wilson and Jemima Hooper, but born 1874, which coincides with his age at the time of their marriage. Unfortunately, I did not copy my sources in the earlier years of the 60's when I got most of my information. I have found that ages in census records being off is more usual than unusual, and can be off by as many as up to 6 years.

James Wilson (19) married Florence Pressley (16) on 11 Sep 1893 at Cullowhee, Jackson Co., NC. The ages in the 1900 census do not match this couple, even though the names are the same, because they had been married 15 years and this marriage took place in 1893.

If you will e-mail me with any additional info you can provide, I will check all my Wilson sheets for you.

The James Wilson who married Florence Pressley in 1893 was a son of Manson and Brunette Cochran (Cockerham) Wilson. This Wilson family lived in the Savannah community of Jackson County. To the best of my knowledge, James and Florence had only three children before his untimely death. Hope this will help to clarify your search.

After finding James N. Wilson, 1900, last week, I thought it would be easy to locate him again in 1910. No such luck. I searched the census and the soundex records for both 1910 and 1920 in the Hamburg Township of Jackson County. I could not locate James N Wilson or Elvin E. ,or Earnest. It is always possible to just miss them in some way, but I am inclined to believe they moved to another state.

I tried. This is as far as I can go. Good luck to you, Edward Cowan

Hi Ed, Thanks so much for your help. I know Ernest (Elvin?) moved to Greenville sometime before 1913 when his dauther was born. What happened to the others is anyone's guess. I know some went to OK, Ed to TN. Ernest ended up in Adrian, Michigan in 1929. He died at Ed's home in TN in 1949, and is buried in Adrian.

Thanks again for all of your help....much appreciated. Chris
