My wife's family has Iaconos from the Strada di Sant'Anna area of Lipari (near the hospital if you are familiar with it), her great-grandmother Margherite Iacono married an Alessandro Malfetti, from Tuscany, who was stationed with the Italian army in Lipari after unification, and they came to NYC in 1889. Later parts of the family moved to Long Island and Hudson County, NJ. Margherite's sister Rosa came to NYC with her and married an Anthony Conte and lived in NJ. A brother Vincenzo also came to NY separately and died soon after his wife and son (who was in the US Army and may have died in the 1918 flu epidemic). The Iacono parents were Domenico and Rosaria Benenati. I hope this is helpful.
