Hi, Teresa. I am a descendant of the Tvrdik family in Minnesota. Do you know where in MN your Katerina (Tupa) Tvrdik moved to?

Am now the oldest surviving member of the Long Island Tvrdik clan. There were six children from my grandfather Joseph and Grandmother Emma Fharenfeld. If there is any info I can provide you please let me know.......Joe Tvrdik

Joe: Was your ggrandfather John b. about 1848 in Bohemia? If so I believe his bro, your great uncle was Anton Tvrdik and if so I am from that line. If this sounds like a match please let me know.

Sandy

I have Anton Tvrdik b. 1851 Bohemia, Austria m. Marie Fisher/Fischer w/ 9 children. Anton's father I believe is Frank Tvrdik who is m. to Anna Zahradnik both abt. 1824 Bohemia. I know they had 2 boys - Anton & John who came & settled in Manhattan, NY. I know that the family is from Bohemia because of my grandmother's stories, I just don't know where as she has now passed away.

You're going to have to dig a little more. Without the name of a village, it will be next to impossible to find the family. Can you find Anton Sr's obit? Have you checked church records for the first marriages and baptisms? Sometimes if they attended church in a more ethnic area, the villages may be recorded. The appear to be a fair number of Tvrdik's in the eastern part of Bohemia, north of Ledec nad sazavou, but again, without the name of a village you could spend tons of money with no success. If you do find a village, I will be very interested in comparing it to my Tvrdik information.

Where did she move in MN? I have a tons of Tvrdik's in MN and some in Chicago. Also one single Tupy(a)tombstone in our local cemetery that doesn't appear to tie to my family anywhere. Can you tell me more about her?

I have an uncle Charles William Tvrdik (Hardy) from Chicago and wonder if he could be in your line. He was born in 1892 in Czeck. and immigrated to the Omaha Nebraska area in late 1890s. Then moved to Illinois by the 1930 census. He married Estelle Ayotte (my mother's sister) in 1934. He was divorced in about 1930 and had a daughter, Lucille, between 1911 and 1917 possibly in Seattle, Washington. The name has been spelled Tvrdy, Toerdy, Tordy and Tvrdik. My uncle went by the name Hardy after 1930. Any help would be appreciated. sassymama@charter.net

I saw your post in 2000 in regards to the Tvrdik genealogist in Omaha. I tried to send to the address listed: topcats@texasnet.com but it was returned to me. I have Tvrdik family from Omaha that I am trying to trace and would very much like to have you send this email on to her. My uncle, Charles, was a son of Frank and Anna Tvrdik, Tvirdy, Toerdy, Tvrdy and Hardy. Various spellings were taken from census records. I know my uncle had a daughter, Lucille, born about 1911 to 1917 but that is all I know about her except her mother may have been an Ella Engstrom or a Henrietta. Uncle Charles' 3rd wife was Estelle, my mother's sister. Frank & Anna were born in 1860 and emmigrated to the US in the late 1890s. They lived in Omaha Nebraska until they died.
