Hello Leonie
Your grandmother was my grandfather's sister. Who was your father, I know one of her sons was Bob?? Bush who ended up in POW camps with my father. I have done quite a lot of research about the family and do have maiden name etc., for Sarah, from memory I think its Humphreys. Henry's sister arrived on the same boat to Adelaide one year later but I haven't pursued where they went. I believe grandfather had close family in New Zealand so that would be an option for us to look at. Henry and Sarah had a first daughter also named Ada who died and was buried in Adelaide. I have a copy of a family photo showing Henry and Sarah and can get a copy to you. I am sure you would like to have it.

Hi All,
My name is Nancy Craber. My Grandfather name was Cecil Raymond Crabaugh. He was of German decent, he changed the last name to Craber for business purpose's.
His son Dallas Cecil Craber was my adopted father.

Good afternoon from Australia Nancy... Thank you for your interest in our Craber family... however I have no information to date that our 'Crabers' ever came from Germany.

So far I can only trace our 'Crabers' to Devonshire in England. I believe (although I can't be sure) that they may have been 'crab' fishermen... regards

Nancy,

My great-grandmother was Margaret Melville (Crabaugh) Brooks. She was the eldest of the 4 children of Isaac and Sarah (Fewell) Crabaugh. Next in line behind Margaret was George John Crabaugh, your great-grandfather [George>Cecil>Dallas]. I've always heard that the Crabaugh's were of German descent, too. So far, I've not been able to verify that. The earliest references to origin I've been able to find point to Virginia ca 1790s and England. I'd like to compare notes if you're interested.

Yours,

Tom Brooks

Happy New Year....Tom
Thank you for the information, so far I have not been able to get any farther than the name change, I know that Dallas was born in Oklahoma. His mother was full blooded Cherokee
and Grandpa Cecil was full blooded German......
I will add the information you sent to what little I have, and see where it takes me.
Welcome to the family Cousin.......Nancy

I am trying to locate the family of George J Crabaugh and saw your post. My Grandmother was married to Paul Crabaugh and for some unknown reason our family has ended up with the funeral memory book from George Crabaugh born 1866. Please contact me and I will be more than happy to try and get this book to you.

I thought by your post that George John Crabaugh was your great grandmothers brother. Sorry for the confusion.
