Sorry I haven't been in touch - work has kept me busy recently so have not been able to devote much time to tracing the family.

Did you get to Scotland? If so was it a productive visit?

Have still got my mother (Jean Masters - was Jean Kydd) and great aunt (Margaret Moseley - my grandmother Kydd's sister) trying to remember any further details.

If you want to contact me direct use rob.masters@ntlworld.com.
It should be working OK!

I believe we are connected. I have a William Shand Kydd in my family, who is from Scotland and lived in London. He married Alice Elizabeth Sim and they had four children: William Shand Kydd, Norman Sim Kydd, Rowland Shand Kydd and Mary Shand Kydd. Rowland was married to my grandmothers sister, Patricia Dorrington and they had one daughter, Eve. I have more information, if you think we are connected.

Surnames: Kyd/Kydd, Alexander
I have just found this list, and I am hoping that despite the passage of some years, there may be people still looking. I have Kyd/Kydd/Kidd joining my family tree with Margaret Kydd who married Thomas Alexander (don't know when or where, but probably in around 1750 in Carmyllie, Forfar). The names of these people come from the birth record of one of their children Katherine/Catherine Alexander chr 15 Jun 1792 Carmyllie. Katherine is my direct line. There is a Margaret Kydd chr 6 Jul 1755 Carmyllie, Forfar (Angus), Scot, the only one I can find on the IGI who was born in the right place and at about the right time. I'm guessing that this is my Margaret, but would appreciate other opinions or suggestions. Any information on Margaret Kydd m Thomas Alexander would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Lynne in Oz.

I've been working online for sometime now and have seen all the Kidd trees on Rootsweb and Ancestry. It seems like everybody goes back to Simon Kyd in 1337 or one of his descendants. Our line goes back to Charles Kidd (b.1778) and Margaret Anderson (m.1803) but I can't make the connection over the ocean. There's only a few Charleses but zillions of Thomases, Isaacs, Benjamins etc. Have you found any Kidds related to a Charles or his son Tandy Key Kidd (b.1810)? How far can the YDNA test tie back to?

Hi. I see this message is really old, but I am also looking at the Matilda Fawkes line and son David Henry Kydd. There is a David Kydd dying in NZ in 1894 age 55 which would make David born abt 1839. Does that fit with your David's birth date? I was just trying to establish a death time for David. Also, here is wedding announcement for 2nd marriage. http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&...--
