Sue,
What were your g-g-grandmother's children's names? Also, since you are from Akron, is it safe to assume that your Gmeiner relatives settled the Cleveland/Akron area? My g-g-grandfather, George Gmeiner, came from Austria and lived in Cleveland. Finally, I'll be travelling to Austria soon; any suggestions on how to go about researching my family there?

I have my file at home as I'm only working half day today, and Monday is a holiday. I'll mail you the names of my great grandfather's step brothers and sisters (gmeiner's). My great grandfather and his wife settled in Akron after a brief stay in Iowa. The Bachmann family resided there until my generation, when the kids started going to different parts of the country. There is an Austrian site, message board, for Vorarlberg. My relatives came from Hard in that region. I'll get it for you or maybe you can research it through GenWEb.

bye for now.

Sue,
You can email me directly at: moffitt@stratos.net
It seems that a lot of the Gmeiners settled in this area. I would be glad to send you what I have on the Gmeiner family. Also, please send the site address for the Austrian site you mentioned.

Hi Tim,
I found out about some of my history from my father. Unfortunately, I do not believe we are related. My great grandfather did not have any sisters name Theresa. He had many brothers and two sisters. One of his brothers was Gebhart Gmeiner. He is the one brother inwhich my father has not been able to find any info. because he moved to California. Let me know if you any have info. on Gebhart.

I am Jennifer's sister. Our grandfather was Ambrose Edward Gmeiner and he lived in Putnam County, Ohio. The family has George Rudolph as other brothers. George Gmeiner fought in the battle of Vicksburg during the Civil War.
We are curious about any other Ambrose Gmeiner, as we heard that one flies for Delta Airlines and has a wife of Nancy? Keep us posted!

Hello

I just posted another message about our same ancestors. I descent from George (and Mary)'s daughter, Catherine (known as Katie), who married Joseph Leatherman. Do you happen to know of any family member who has a photo of George in uniform? Do you know from which of his sons you, Jennifer and George descend? By the way, nice to meet you!
