Carol,

Carol, you are from the Dorset, England Crabb line. Our Crabb family did not marry into any Dorset Crabb lines.

I looked in familysearch.org and there was your Richard Crabb who married Joanna Mabey on 8 Apr 1817 in Bridgeport, Dorset, England.
If you look at familysearch.org you may find your family who migrated to Prince Edward Island, Canada about 1830.

Another good site to look at is the UK John Crabbe old Crabbe site which is:
www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/7299. Look in the "please sign the guestbook area." I know I have seen Dorset Crabb queries there. Also check out his "Trees" areas.

Sorry, but we are not related to any Dorset Crabb lines.
Good luck to you.
Marsha

You are very welcome Carol. I do not have any Barrett or Barretts in my family.
I do know some Jenkins family that lives where we do and are friends that have done genealogy.
If you give me first and last names, dates of births, marriages and deaths and places like County and State or Country, I will ask Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins to see if their information might match with yours.
What county did your Jenkins family live in Cornwall County, England?

James Jenkins and his wife Catharine immigrated from England supposely 1833 to Prince Edward Island,Canada I think from my search that they came from Northill,Cornwall,England I have a Catharine Congdon christened in 1787 in Altarnun,Cornwall,England as James was born 1784 The next James Jenkins was born 1827 in England and I found a James Jenkins christened june 1827 in Northill,Cornwall,England so I sort of put 2 and 2 together and came up with this as no one else had anything Where the Barretts come in on this side is with him He married an Ann Barrett In Prince Edward Island 1848
thanks again and if these people have anything that would be great
cordially,Carol

Julie Cain,

My name Marsha Berry and I was appointed in
1995 by my Crabbe cousin Clarence Linden
Buster Crabbe's wife Virginia Crabbe, to be
the official Buster Crabbe Estate Family
Genealogist and I have done the research on
my Crabb(e)Family back to John Crabb 1450 of
Castlewich or Callington today, Cornwall
County, England.

I have the genealogy of Decourcey Wright
Crabbe. Bryan J. Marin, son-in-law of
Ralph C. Walters and Anna Rebecca Crabbe
wrote the book "Ancestor Hunting"
Privately Printed May 1971 and available
to the public on microfilm US/CAN Film Area
0873680 Item 6, from the Mormon Salt Lake
City Genealogy Library, which has the
complete Decourcey Wright Crabbe genelogy in
it.

Decourcey Wright Crabbe's Mother's name is
not known, as she was a native Hawaiian girl
of the King's household and she died in March
1854, after her only child Decourcey Wright
Crabbe was born on 27 Jan 1854 in Honolulu,
Oahu, Hawaii.

Decourcey Wright Crabbe had no male
descendants through his line, only
female descendants.

Decourcey Wright Crabbe, (son of Horace
Gates Crabb born 2 Mar 1830 in Philadelphia,
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died 6 Dec
1903 in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii and his first
wife Mrs. Horace Gates Crabb born about 1832
in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii and died March 1854
in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii and no one knows
her name as she was a native Hawaiian girl of
the King's household) Decourcey was born 27
Jan 1854 in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii and died
on 15 Dec 1905 in Sacramento, Sacramento,
California. Decourcey Wright Crabbe married
Mary Harkness in about 1879 in Sacramento,
Sacramento, California and they only had one
child, a daughter Anna Rebecca Crabbe born 7
Aug 1880 in Sacramento, Sacramento,
California and died 5 Aug 1927 in San
Francisco, California. Anna Rebecca Crabbe
married 4 times:
1. Ralph C. Waters on 29 Oct 1903
2. Allen Stewart
3. Clarence Good in 1917
4. Walter Johnson
Out of the union of Anna Rebecca Crabbe
and Ralph C. Walters is the only child Ralpha
Marie Walters born 12 May 1908 in
Sacramento, Sacramento, California. It was
Ralpha Marie Walters who married Byran J.
Marin who wrote the book "Ancestor Hunting."

Quote:
Bryan J. Marin's wife Ralpha Marie Walters
has a half-sister, Victoria Good Fish, who
has met some of the Crabbe relatives while
living in Honolulu so while she was there on
a visit in 1968 we (Bryan and Ralpha) had her
do some checking on family history. She was
never able to find any record of who the
mother of Decourcey Wright Crabbe was, but
did find much more including the name of the
ship Decourcey came to San Francisco on. It
was the "Onward" and left Honolulu March 6,
1866. The Millers who accompanied him were
also listed as passengers.

Horace Gates Crabb, son of Horatio Nelson
Crabb and Rebecca Ord Karrick,
married wife #2 Elizabeth Meek on 10 June
1857 in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii.

I am glad you have Decourcey Wright Crabbe's
trunk. Bryan J. Marin's wife Ralpha Marie
Walter Marin, is the Crabbe descendant
who would have the greatest attachment to
Decourcey Wright Crabbe's trunk, as Decourcey
Wright Crabbe is her grandfather.

I want to just thank you Marsha for answering my post about the crabbe famly. I have been recently talking with my Aunt Doris about brian who was her cousin I beleive by marriage. She just mailed me some information that brian had written to her. The letter is post marked march 1969.
Brian sent her an article written by Horace Gates Crabbe entitled "Paradise of the pacific "Half A Century Ago".
She had suggested that I try to find Brians daughter, and ask her about the geneology and link I was looking for. I just felt that if you answered my post this would be easier than finding joanna.
When I was small I remember riding in the back of the car while my mother drove and reading the book you spoke of. Like I said I was small so I cannot remember if I actually could read all the words. I just remember my mom talking about this was our family history as I thumb through.

I guess the biggest suprise to your response is that Decourcey wright Crabbe had no male children. Here is the linage, I am sure we are talking the same lines for Decourcey...
:o)

Mary Harkness Born illinois 11/1/1857,

My great grandfather:
John allen crabbe born 5/12/1884 Sacramento, ca. Died 08/15/1956

NOTE: John Allen Crabbes father was my missing link...I could not find the husband of Mary Harkness, I am awaiting the birth certificate to give me the information you just now passed onto me. That is being Decourcey Write Crabbe being Mary Harkness Husband.

John Allen Crabbes Wife:

I cannot tell you how pleased I am to finally have this information. There was very little on the internet conserning decourcey. I have visited the "Buster Crabbe" site and found it a wonderful journey.
I can say all growing up I remember the stories of Hawaii, Horace crabbe, Buster crabbe, the native hawaiian girl from the palace. I was told that Horace crabbe at one tome served as the Kings Taster and that it was possible the native girl was from royal hawaiin linage, living in the palace of the king.
I am not sure if any of us will ever be able to find her name. This would be a true revealation.

Marsha I just want to thank you so much for your post and information.
I spoke to my brother the other day and he said that the initials on decourceys trunk are laid in Gold.
I understand the value the trunk would mean to Ralpha. This same sentiment holds dear to my aunt who is also the granddaughter. I know that Bryan and Ralpha visited my grandmothers house in sacramento. I wonder if she remembers seeing the trunk there?
or if she remembers my Aunt.

I just cannot tell you enough what a good job you have done with the geneology of the crabbe family tree.
I hope one day to visit hawaii. My mom always wanted to go before her untimely death.
Always

No son of Decourcey Wright Crabb and Mary Harkness in Bryan J. Marin Book

Marsha Berry (View posts)

Hello again Julie A Cain,

I think we ought to email each other as I
would love to be in touch with you a lot
more and I know we will have a lot to write
each other about. My email address is:
grberry@uswest.net.

This is all very new to me because Bryan J.
Marin does not mention a son being born to
Decourcey Wright Crabb and Mary Harkness,
just their daughter Anna Rebecca Crabbe.

On page 21 of Bryan's book he said:
"Ralph C. Walters. son of Joseph P. and
Laura Crandall Walters b. Mar 7, 1879 at
Lincoln, Neb. d. May 22, 1941 at Sacramento,
Calif. m. Oct 29, 1903 to Anna Rebecca
Crabbe b. Aug 7, 1880 at Sacramento, Cal.
d. Aug 5, 1927. A dau. of Decourcey Wright
Crabbe and Mary Harkness Crabbe. One dau.
was born to this union,
(Anna Rebecca Crabbe and Ralph C. Walters)
b. Ralpha Marie Walters b. May 12, 1908 at
Sacramento, Calif."

Yes we are talking about the same
Decourcey Wright Crabbe and his lines.

Decourcey Wright Crabbe's wife Mary
Harkness was born 1 Nov 1857 in Illinois
and died on 12 Jun 1940 in Sacramento,
California. Mary Harkness is the daughter
of Roderick Duel Harkness born Sep 1825 in
Mount Vernon, Knox, Illinois and Zilpha
Ann Loomis born about 1837.

This is where the name Zilpha came from,
Mary Harkness's mother.

Roderick Duel Harkness's father is Jacob
Edson Harkness and Delana Duel. The Duel
line is my father's line, Crabbe my mother's.

Please email me. Marsha

Yes, Bryan J. Marin and his wife Ralpha

San Francisco, Cal. She married Donald L.
Gomes, b. Jan 26, 1935 on June 16, 1956 at
Hughson, Calif.

2. Paul Robert Marin b. Jan 21, 1941,
