LAMME Family

William Lamme, Sr., first appeared in Augusta Co., VA, about 1750. My records identify five sons by two wives.

I descend from his son James who settled in Clark Co., OH. James' farm remains in family hands. There are many descendants in the area.

Another son of William is Nathan. Nathan eventually received bounty lands in Greene Co., MD, adjoining Clark Co. And, he, too has many descendants.

Another son of William is Robert. This Robert Lamme is likely the Lamme associated with the Boone family in both KY and MO.

The spelling of Lamme is well established. It is likely a French or Dutch name. There were other families with similar names in the Augusta Co. area. A connection has not been established.

I have excellent information on William's son, James. My information on other family lines is sketchy.
