Hi Elizabeth Thanks for your letter, the information you gave me was very interesting. My Irish side of the family from Dublin were also protestants. I do know that my fathers grandads brother moved to the states after the potatoe famine, not sure on the year though. When in Ireland recently,my father and I were looking through the death certificate book for some information on my late family and realised that some were in the name of Tackabury and not Thackaberry. I do believe that in some cases the Irish have dropped the 'h' out of the name because of the Irish pronounciation. I will try to find out some more information through my father and get back to you. Hopefully we will both learn something about our ancestry through each other. Speak to you soon Matt

Hello, I was wondering if your relations have a Marcus Thackaberry who was married and had three daughters and one son? Why so vague? I just have an old family photograph with the words "Marcus Thackaberry family" written on the back. I live in north western Illinois, not to far from Princeton. If this is any relation I would like to send the photograph to you. I bought it in a flea market, mainly because it was a handsome looking family and it had a name on the back. I know if it were my relatives I would love to have a picture of them. Please let me know if this could be any relation. Jean

Re: thackaberry Ella Mae Thackaberry
Ella Mae married Ashley B Harris in Indiana 25 dec 1902; they moved to Virgil, SD where they farmed until loosint the farm due to 3 yrs of drought. They stayed with her uncle in Tampico, ILL for about 4 yrs them moved to Bloomington, CA in about 1939 -1940. Ella Mae is my wife' grandmother. Ella moved back to Aberdeen, SD (1957) following her husband's death in 1955. Ela died there in 1964. Are you related? Bob Pearson

Re: thackaberry Ella Mae Thackaberry
Robert, I am afraid that your Thackaberry family and our Tackaberrys are not related. Our Tackaberrys came from Ireland in1805 and lived in Upper New York State, then Pittsburg, then Illinois, and finally came to East Texas where some of them remain today. Wish we could give you a match, but it just isn't there.
