Christian, It seems you have done a lot of research on the Gsell family. Do you have a Nicholas Gsell or Nicolaus Gsell. He died in 1889, He had been married to Barbara Seigrist. I believe he was born in Alsace. He may have been in the Textile business that moved to New Jersey.

Do you know this line?

Sorry I don't recognize that name at all. There are so many branches to the Gsell line that they sort of go everywhere. I hope you can find the information you need.

Good Luck,

Hi! My name is Jaci Sigrist and I have Sigrist (or varied spelling) from Alsace Lorraine. I wonder if there is a connection. My gggg grandfather was Philip Sigrist. He married Mary Louise Walters. Philip was born in 1834 in Alsace Lorraine. He had an older sister, Emmaline and an older brother, John. I'm unsure of who his parents were. They moved to PA when Philip was 3 weeks old.

Surnames: G'sell and Bower
I am just beginning this work and am struggling to find information about G'sell and Bower parts of my family.

I read this post and realized there may be a connection since I grew up in St. Louis as did my great grandmother, Albertine G'Sell. I have info on her siblings and her parents, Albert G'Sell and Elizabeth Bower G'Sell. I am having difficulty finding immigration information though.

Let me know if anyone is still searching.

Regards,

Susan
