My Great Grandfather's name is Herman Paape (Pope) Oct 27, 1830 married to Maria Damand. I am related to him through his son Henry Pope who married Lena Minnie Keechler (Keehler and other various spellings). My Father's name is Harvey Pope born August 29, 1913 on a farm north of Shelton, Nebraska. Herman is buried in the Sodtown Cemetry in Nebraska. I have pictures of his and his wife's tombstones, and other military records. Who was Herman's father? Ewald Paap of Germany???

Looking for information on Paape family. My great great grandmother Julia maiden name Suta, came over from Hungry with him. All we know is the last name was Paape, they had maybe 3-4 children. She was pregnant with a Mary (it was said). She was forced to marry this man, she didn't love him, ran away, married my grandfather Franchesco Dominic Petrossi, and Mary stayed with them. But before that happened they settled in Caseville, MI area or Sanilac County area.

Hi. I just stumbled upon your message. I beleive that you were in contact with my father David Paape whose uncle was a pilot in WW2 and was shot down & killed over Holland. Hi s Father Frank went on 2 expeditions to the South Pole as a young man and the family were based in Dunedin with my Great Grandfather coming from Ballarat in Australia.Grandad also spent time in America before taking over the liscense and running the family hotel. He was a large character by all accounts. Dad passed away 5 years ago. He was living in Noosa Australia at the time but was based in Brisbane prior to this. I would be very intristed in seeing the papers. Dad was always intristed in family history but useless on the computer. My email is janepaape@hotmail.com Hope to hear from you Thanks
