Hey Helen,
Thanks for writing. I moved last weekend so I have been slower than usual in responding to my e-mail.
The names you mentioned in your inquiry are so similar to mine but still are different. Read this info and tell me what you think.
Amos Polson born around 1820 married Olive McLean. They had land near Bear Creek in present day Chewsterfield County. They had one son: John Amos Polson whom I am beginning to think was adopted. I have no definitive record stating such but I do know John A. Polson was sometimes called John A. Huggins. I'm thinking that he was born a Huggins and raised by Amos and Olive.
John A. Polson married Sallie Josephine Williams and together they had about 13 children who have produced many, many descendants in Chesterfield and Darlington counties.
One of John A. Polson and Sallie Josephine William's sons was named Ervin Polson. I do not have the name of his wife at this point but it very well may be the Waters woman that you named. I have a list of all of John A's and Josephine's children plus most of the spouse's names.
Also, John A. and Josephine Williams adopted a child and named him Rochel Polson.
Josephine is buried in Bear Creek cem. in Chesterfield county near one of her daughter-in-laws: Martha Boan Polson who was the first wife of John Patrick Polson who was called "J. Pat" John A. Polson is most likely also buried at Bear Creek cem because it was a very large cem. at one point but a lot of the markers are gone.
I have been trying to link Amos Polson (who married Olive McLean) to my g-g-grandfather, Ainsley Polson who is buried in Patrick, Sc, not too far from Bear Creek cem, but I have not been able to.
Hope this helps. Sincerely, Norma Polson Baugh
