Is Gratton Preston William Preston’s brother? Do you know the Linda Taylor that is replying on this topic? I believe I met Howard as a child. I lived in Harrodsburg but the only Preston I remember meeting was Ma Preston, who was William Preston’s second wife. We used to visit Aunt Matt often during the summer. She is the only relative of the Preston clan that I really knew. We went with our grandparents who lived across the street. They were Lonnie Jackson and Mamie Preston Gray Jackson. Aunt Matt was a lovely lady. We named our daughter after her. So, I used to listen to Mattie, Mamie & they would sometimes call their sister,Aunt Ollie Preston Price, who lived down the street to come and chat ( or gossip). I just never heard them talk about Irish ancestry. I spent a whole lot of time with my grandmother and she never talked about it either. I don’t think they ever discussed ancestry at all. They talked about their dad, William Preston and other living family members. I must have been pretty dense as a child. Aunt Matt used to talk about Bettie Jane and I saw her photos setting around the house. Finally, I ask why Bettie Jane couldn’t play with us, was she sick? My great-aunts laughed until I thought they’d cry. They preceded to explain that Bettie Jane was a woman and was married. So, you see my grasp of family wasn’t great! I was in junior high before my mother explained that Ma Preston was her step-grandmother which I couldn’t get my head around. Then she explained she was younger than my grandmother. I told my mom I didn’t think that was legal ( also followed by laughter). So I lived in a town full of relatives ( I never met any of my relatives by my grandmother’s marriage to Michael Gray) Grays and Prestons. Did you do the DNA with Ancestry? I only have a few Preston connections and only one Cox (through my grandfather’s mother’s family). I just met a 2nd cousin once removed from the two Prestons that went to Oklahoma. Do you have a father for John Jilson Preston (married to Elizabeth Harkness and do you know who Ruth Stone is)? I originally had Jenico Preston, Earl of Gormanstan (Irish) but I switched it to Philip Preston of England. Can you help?

I have my ancestral line as: Douglas Harrison, Moorine Jackson, Mamie Preston, William Preston, Jilson Preston Jr, Jilson Lewis Preston Sr, and John Jilson Preston.
