Victoria doesn't provide the same access to shipping records that NSW does, so we cannot look up anything further about John's arrival than what Mary has already provided.
The only way to see what is on the shipping record is pay for the record from PROV (just google) or see if someone if visiting the Records Office who would look at the record for you.

The other problem is, if he was Unassisted there usually isn't a lot of detail on the records. As they paid their own fare not much more than name and age and sometimes occupation were recorded.
