My maternal grandmother was Minnie Carrico Morris, who lived in Bureau County, IL (Tiskilwa). Born August 23, 1891, died 1974. Family is looking for information regarding other Illinois Carricos and their origins. Thanks.

I know that two of my grandfather's brothers Arnold and Wallace Carrico moved to Peroia, IL. Both are dead now, but there are members of the family still there. My grandfather original came from Springfield, KY

What a coincidence. I grew up in the Peoria area and never heard the name Carrico outside of my mom's family who were from Tiskilwa, IL. I think our Carricos hailed from N.Y. There are Carricos in Rockford, IL too, however, I don't know where they are from. Thanks.

I may have screwed up my first response so here it goes again. Haven't heard of Tony Carrico. There are Carricos in the Rockford area, however, they aren't related to my family. The only male Carrico in our phone directory is a Wm. Carrico. Sorry.

Andrew Winton Carrico was my grandfather. He was born in Grayson Co. Va, to JOhnson and Mundanie Carrico. He came to Illinois (Murphysboro) in 1898 with his brother John Wesley Carrico. He ran a meat market with his brother. In 1904 he married Catherine Schmitt; they had 3 daughters, Veronia, Helen, and Margaret. She passed away in 1909. He never remarried. He passed away in 1960 and is buried in Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro next to his brother , his daughter Veronica, his niece Ethel B Carrico who came from Va to help raise his daughters after Catherine's death. Helen was my mother. Also buried with him is my mother, Helen and her husband Edwin G. McDowell. His wife Catherine is buried in St. Andrew's Catholic cemetery in Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. I have wedding photos of them and photos of John Wesley.

The message I am responding to is 9 years old, so I doubt that anyone is waiting patiently for a response - but who knows? :-)

Arnold Carrico (Francis Arnold Carrico) was my grandfather who moved from Kentucky to Avon, Illinois where he is buried. There are still (Carrico) members of his family in Illinois and some of us lived near Peoria for many years. Wallace (James Wallace Carrico) was his brother, my Great Uncle.

I have little of my own research to offer, but I am interested in our lineage. It was so interesting to see my grandfather mentioned here - that's why I responded.

I am a member of the family that moved to Illinois. My grandfather, Arthur Francis Carrico, was a first cousin to Arnold and Wallace Carrico and lived in Warren County, Illinois. Which brother of Arnold and Wallace are you a grandson of?

I am a grandson of Arnold (Francis Arnold).

Your Great Grandfather must be Benedict Joseph Carrico while mine is Francis Marion Carrico (they were brothers). We both share the same Great Great Grandfather, Pius M. Carrico.

Ol' Grandpa Pius must have been a busy guy. He had 14 kids!? And that was by his first wife alone. No wonder she conked on him.

Those Carrico men! :-)

Yes! You are correct - my great-grandfather is Benedict Joseph Carrico and his wife, Melvina Smith Carrico is a sister to Francis Marion's wife, Mary Ellen Smith Carrico - so actually my grandfather, Arthur Francis Carrico and Wallace and Arnold Carrico were double cousins as their fathers were brothers and their mothers were sisters.

Pius did indeed have alot of children and alot of descendants.

For what it's worth, I tend to follow the lineage laid out here:

http://virts.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hume/tree/8173.htm

I have no idea if it's correct or not, but it's fun reading.

BTW, it looks like your Grandfather, Arthur Carrico, his wife and a whole bunch of your relations are buried in the Bushnell Cemetery and some in Galesburg. How about that! I had no idea there were so many Carrico's in that region - I thought my Dad's family in Avon was the only one around. I knew we were related to some folks in Kentucky (what Carrico isn't?) and my Dad and his siblings go there from time to time and hang out, but I have never been.
