Hello. I am glad to hear from you. I am guessing that there may be a family connection between our Onofreys. There don't seem to be very many around!

My husband's grandfather (John George Onofrey) was born in Boswell, PA in 1913. They went back to Austria Hungary (now Slovakia) about June 1913. He came back over to PA (Carinbrook in Shade Township) in 1926 by himself.

His father was John Joseph Onofrey and his mother was Dorothy. That's all I know. They lived in Kosice Hamre, which seems to be under a resevoir in Slovakia now. I guess a lot happened since 1975 (when John Joseph went back for a visit). He had a brother Joseph and a sister, but I don't know her name. The sister married Andy Rendos who later worked in Canada while she stayed in Europe.
