Firstly, the Hessian Line refers to the road that runs between Clementsvale and Bear River, Annapolis Co., N.S., along which land grants were given to disbanded (primarily) Hessian soldiers in 1784 in the newly created Clements Township. Your Rosencrantz ancestor (Johann Rosencrantz) was one of those soldiers, although he was not of a Hessian regiment but perhaps of a Kassel one.[Ref: J. Merz, The Hessians of Nova Scotia] He received Lot #24, 100 acres, on the Hessian Line.
