Hi,
Which child are you?? In your posting your say your sister
"My sister Ellen Arlene was born in KS under the name of Wilson."
If your male you would be perfect to test. No, the Y chromosome is the chromosome that creates a male child so a female can not pass it to her son. Only the male carries it.. and only the male passes it to the child.
I have you Gilpin lineage back to Ireland.

cwhite02@cox.netNote: Thomas Arthur Gilpin was also known as Art Wilson. Two of his children with Neva Redding had the Gilpin name; one had the Wilson name. Sometimes the Gilpin children were called Wilson, even after Neva married her second husband, Horace McCullick. When I went to the visitation for Dick Wilson, his wife, Mary Lou White Wilson, told me the family story. Needless to say, it's very confusing to research. In my family tree, I refer to him as Thomas Arthur Gilpin/Wilson.

James Arthur Gilpin died January 12, 2004. He was born July 5, 1925 at Noblesville, Indiana, the son of Thomas Gilpin and Neva Redding. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served with the USS Winged Arrow in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war he moved to Boulder, Colorado and married Betty Alcorn in 1947. They were divorced. He married Lorene Bryant in 1968 at Boulder. He worked for the Rocky Mountain Flats Arsenal and various chemical companies, retiring from the National Center for Atmospheric Research as a security officer. They retired to Rio Rico, Arizona, where he worked part-time at Rio Rico Swim and Racquet Club. He was a commander of VFW Posts in both Boulder and Rio Rico.Survivors include his wife, Lorene; three brothers, Dick Wilson of Olathe, Kenneth McCullick of Delphos and Harold McCullick of Minneapolis; three children, Kenneth Gilpin of Boulder, Debra Gilpin of Longmont, Colorado and Sharon Gilpin of Nogales,

### Garry Bryant - ??Same man who donated data to the Gilpin Surname study??#####
a step-son Garry Bryant of Farmington, Utah;
six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.The funeral was January 20 at Adair Carroon Mortuary in Nogales. Interment was in Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista.Memorials are to Carondelet Santa Cruz County Hospice, 857 W. Bell Rd., Nogales, Az 85621. (According to Dick Wilson's wife, Thomas Arthur Gilpin was also known as Art Wilson, living in Kansas under an assumed name after having legal problems in Hamilton County, Indiana. The problem -- theft from someone in the family? -- was cleared up, but he still used Wilson as his wife, Neva, thought the story would reflect badly on the family if it came out. I have not been able to find his obit, but believe he died about 1929 in Kansas.)
