William Schofield, my great uncle owned Schofield's flower shop where Dion O'Banion worked and was killed across from Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. Dion was a great family man and loved his wife immensly but they were unable to have children. My grandfather Raymond Schofield was Bill's brother and he and my grandmother already had five children when they had my Aunt Patricia. The O'Banions offered to "adopt" her for $50,000.00. Needless to say my grandparents said "no".
