I'm looking for 1940 Atlanta Federal penitentiary records. I'm researching someone located there in the 1940 census and it states they were there as of April 1, 1935.
I then found a death certificate for this person in a prison hospital in 1941 in Springfield, Missouri. It lists the person as divorced and lists a wife's name, but I havn't a clue where or when they were married or divorced. I've searched the wife's name on Ancestry; no luck.
I know where this person is buried, but I'd like to find the prison inmate records, as well as the 1930 census records. I have every other census record for this person.
I only see Atlanta penetentiary records until 1921. I would think the 1940 records should be public information, as the 1940 census records are. I didn't know prisoners had privacy rights?
