What would you like to know about the Salzwedel family from Medford, Wisconsin???
I have quite a bit of information regarding the five children you mention of August & Bertha Salzwedel. Please contact me at:
maryestanley@yahoo.comFirst, August Salzwedel remarried after Bertha died. Her name was Wilhelmina (I have a copy of the marriage record).
The line I specifically have tracked is that of Minnie. She is buried in Spokane, WA. Her first husband (Chris Linnecke) died in Cripple Creek, CO in 1907. They were married in the State of Washington. On her marriage license to Chris she stated she was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. They had 2 boys: Otto & Herbert. Minnie moved back to Medford with her boys after Chris died. She remarried. The 2 boys were raised by their stepfather. I met with and talked to Otto in the 1980s (he is now deceased). He lived in Nevada (primary home in Virginia City, also had a house in Reno). He owned and ran a business college in Reno. Chris Linnecke was the nephew of my gr. grandfather. They were raised as brothers. Where George (my gr. grandfather) went, Chris went also. They were gold/silver miners. Chris died in a mine accident in Cripple Creek. George died 2 years later in Cripple Creek.
Please contact me -- I have much additional information (obtained from birth, death and marriage records as well as I have been in touch with descendants of the other children of August & Bertha).
