I am looking for information on my great-great grandfather, Richard Dalton. He was married, in Petty Harbour, to Mary Donovan on November 28, 1849. They had 7 children, all born in Petty Harbour: Alice, John, Michael, Ellen, Ann, Mary and Theresa (my g-grandmother) between 1850 and 1868. According to oral family history, Richard was a casket maker in Cape Broyle. If you recognize any of these names, please contact me. I would appreciate any assistance. Thanks.

Kelly Jean These people are also related to me as my mother was a Whalen from Cape Broyle. John Dalton married Anne Walsh and not Ann Coady....
How are they related to you and what information do you need?

Ed, Anne Whalen Is my great grandmother. She was born March 16, 1904 in Cape Broyle. I know that her father was John Whalen. She had 4 brothers; Steven, John, Patrick and Martin and she had 1 sister, Margaret. She moved to St. John's when she was 18 and she married Edward Leo Cooper soon after. That's all I know. If you know more I would love to hear it. E-mail me at kellyjean@sympatico.caThanks, Kellyjean.

Hello, I am researching families in Cape Broyle. According to my records, this John Whalen remarried Mary Francis O'Brien. I was aware of all the children except Stephen. Any info would be appreciated. I also have some to share.
Thanks Audrey

I too am looking for info on the Richard Dalton/Mary Donovan family. In particular a Michael Dalton who married a Bridget Coombs in 1887. There is a Michael Dalton who is a son of Richard and Mary, but it's not clear if he's the husband of Bridget Coombs. Any info anyone would have would be helpful. Thank you.

My great-grandparents are Thomas Rice and Bridget Dalton. My records show that Bridget Dalton's parents were John Dalton and Ann Walsh. I received this info from other NL Cape Broyle researchers and have not verified it by official records yet. My Dalton records are incomplete and would appreciate any help that you can give. Have visited my Rice family in Cape Broyle and am still trying to connect my Shanahan family from Renews with those in Cape Broyle.

Re: querry about Bridget Dalton (who married Thomas Rice) being the daughter of John Dalton and Ann Walsh. It's not possible for Bridget Dalton to be the daughter of John Dalton and Anne Walsh. John and Anne married in June 1858. Bridget Dalton married Thomas Rice in June 1872, only 14 years after John and Anne's marriage.
