Hi, My name is Melba Guard. I have been researching the Beuhring family who bought "Maple Grove" plantation from Peter Scales, Nathaniel's son. Peter inherited the plantation from his father. When I looked at the deed it mentions a family cemetery that was not included with the sell. It said that Peter's mother (Nathaniel's wife) was buried there, a nephew named John Adam and other relatives. The deed was dated 3/1837, Cabell County, Book 8 page 224. His father had just died and I would think was buried there. I am not sure when Spring Hill was started. The Beuhrings, F. G. L. and Frances, was buried either there or near there and were removed to Spring Hill about 1870. It was mentioned that that cemetery where Beuhrings were was located on 2nd Avenue in Huntington. Could it be possible that the Scales family was not removed?
