Hi,
I'm related to the Pierce Perry and Thomas Dobson families. If anyone has any information on either family, I'd appreciate any information.
I am aware of the incident with my ggg grandfather Thomas Dobson and Mr Hollenback. If you have World Vital Records you can locate the book with the article in it. Records of the Olden Time: Fifty Years on the Prairies. is the name of the book. On pages 429 and 430, you'll find the record of "A Horse Plays Detective". In Jan 2, 1902(Thursday) there is an article in the Lacon Home Journal that also covers the incident. There is a second article in the Jan. 16, 1902 paper.

nksundra, I'd be interested in hearing your version of the "legend".

When Marshall Co Historical Society did a survey of the cemeteries in Marshall Co, they documented that Thomas, his wife-Mary and a son, Thomas Dobson(3 days old) were buried 'behind Virgil Marshall house & surrounded by a metal fence. This resident is located just outside of Pattonsburg.' The Dobsons where living there at the time of his death.
