My mother was born and raised in New Orleans and my grandmother, Abbis Chiasson,
was born in Thibodaux and grew up all over the Cajun area.
I still have relatives in New Orleans - my aunt who was named
after her great-grandmother Laura Guidroz - and
great aunts and a great uncle in Baton Rouge.

I get to LA not as often as I would like, but have been twice
since the summer of 1999. I went to the Chiasson reunion during
the CMA in August.
