A receipt shows George taking some slaves and I assume that is at the time of his father's death. In 1937 someone had "interviewed" my husband's gr gr grandfather and he said that near the end of the war the Coker's son took him and his family away. His father ran away during the night. He went with a union soldier named Bennett Starkey. I found him on a 1870 census with the John Starkey family in Hickory County MO. The oldest sister went with another union soldier and the youngest sister stayed with the mother. I can only assume that the mother and youngest daughter did not go back to the Coker's. This is all the imformation I have about gr gr grandfather's family. George had the right number of slaves and the right gender. And approximately the right age for gr gr grandfather in the 1860 slave schedule. This could or could not be who I am looking for. That is why I need the first names of these slaves.
