Coytesville was originally called An English neighborhood. To my knowledge Sam and Lis were born in Ireland, where I don't know. I also don't have their parents names but Sam's were born in Ireland and I think Liz's were also. I don't know if they came together or at what age. They came before the potato famine, and settled at first in NYC around the five points area which was made famous in the movie "The gangs of NY. They had family on both sides (Melville and Kyle) in NY and two of their sons were born there but by 1845 it got very rough in NY so they moved to NJ. The rest were born in Coytesville. Sam was a telegrapher, a boot maker and a farmer. In later years he was just a farmer.
His son's became all three. Herman's family came to the US three generations earlier. He had a Daughter named Elizabeth
but my Liz was born in 1815 so it's just a name used a lot in the family. My Dad was named Melville also. My Dad was raised in Coytesville. He took me to the cemetery many times when I was a small child. There were a lot more grave there then. He took me past so many graves and said "these are all my family, when we past the Coyte graves he said, "these are my cousins. The Coyte's I have spoken to don't know any thing about us other then our families all are in the cemetery. I have a question for you, where are you sending for Sarah's birth certificate? One other thing, where do you live? My Grand Father told me the Melville's go back to the Earle of Melville. I know Herman does. If we can tie them together we can save our selves's a lot of work.
