Hello Amanda,
Thank you so much for responding and I am very happy to know that your Uncle has improved so well. I will check out the link you sent once I've replied to you.
I've lived here in Seminole all my 43 years of life and heard stories of "Doc" Grisso and my grandfather riding the fence lines together - Doc would ride back to the north end of his property to meet my grandfather, have a cup of coffee and shoot the breeze and tell all sorts of 'tall tales' as I once called them. Seems if I understood my grandfather correctly - all the property as far as the eye could see, belonged to Doc. I have never 'offically' had a tour of the mansion, but back in '83 I worked for one of the neighbors of the owners (of the mansion - don't recall the owners name) and the Mrs of the mansion asked if I would do some work (on the gazebo area in the back) for her once I'd finished my assigned job. Well, I needed to ask her some questions, walked into the home through the back door - the whole time calling out to anyone that would answer because I don't make it a habit to just enter a home uninvited....well to make a long story short, I found her down in the basement area which turned out was the grand ballroom (and boy! it was GRAND). Never in my life had I seen anything of such splendor and size.
But anyway, back to my initial query - the wine. I learned that your Uncle was selling "Grisso Mansion" wine at our 100th annivery of Seminole a year ago, but I had stayed home that day because of the storms - needless to say I was so disapointed in myself for not going. To me, that is a piece of history and part of my home town. I've seen the wonderful inprovements he's done to the landscape. It's amazing - I can only imagine what he's done to the interior!
Well, I have 'babbled' on long enough. If I have any questions, I will be sure to contact you. Also, if you would like to contact me directly - my email is
denisechilds@yahoo.com.....And one more thing...please tell your Uncle that one of the many admirers of his home is so happy he's doing better!!
Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Denise
