Your reply has given me renewed hope. I've had the death record and the now required fee of $135 ready for the longest but kept getting the run-around about which county to file for the Vol. Admin. in. I've tried Northhampton because my great aunt was admitted there first. They had nothing - no commitment papers. Then I was told to try Hampden county (Springfield) because she was listed on the 1900 census there. All bad info. Now, because of your story, I am plunging into getting a cousin into Worcester. The problem is that she lives in Springfield so my question is can she fill out the paper there and mail it to Worcester or must she travel to Worcester? OR can she request the paper from Worcester to be mailed or faxed to her home in Springfield, she completes it and sends in the complete package back to Worcester? I'm hoping the latter is what pans out as she is works 5 days/week and has no time off to make this special trip.
I live in Texas and even though I'm the family genealogist and was the one who discovered all this great info, I am not qualified due to residence to apply for the Vol. Admin. so that is why I'm working through a cousin I've never met in person --only through email.
Thanks for digging through your papers and giving me re-newed hope!
