"Mary who married Oliver Church, a Loyalist, as was Gerrit."
Sorry, meant to say 'unlike Gerrit'. He served on the US side. Apparently the Shibley family who Gerrit married into were Loyalists as well. It appears that Loyalists and 'rebels' lived happily side-by-side in Prince Edward County, there is even a record somewhere of Oliver Church and his father-in-law Gerrit applying for a liquor licence. (The mention of Oliver Church as an innkeeper is one of the few facts in the pathetically unsourced 'Pioneer Life on the Bay of Quinte' that I've been able to corroborate.)
ps: I've tried many times unsuccessfully to contact Laurel Graham who started this thread. Very curious to see her photos.
