I don't know if it's any relation, but my maternal grandmother was Maria Cristiano, born in 1857 (100 years before me!) and my father's given name was Vito. There may be some connection as some of the names are the same. (I'm sure you know that it is an Italian tradition for the first born male to be named after the paternal grandfather, second born male to be named after the maternal grandfather, first born female to be named after the paternal grandmother and the second born female to be named after the maternal grandmother.) For whatever it's worth, my paterna grandmother, Maria Cristiano's parents were Maria Antonia and Pietro Cristiano (born 1827. Pietro Cristiano's father was Francesco Cristiano. I have no other information besides that. However, my family and I are planning a trip to Europe this summer, including a trip to Castelgrande to do some family research. If you'd like, I could send you the information I find. Let me know.
