Nancy, et al,
I would love to learn more about the Shanahan's of Dunbeacon. I am confident that I am Michael O'Shea's second cousin, with Margaret Shanahan being our Great-great grandmother. I know she was born around 1825, and that she died in West Springfield, Massachusetts in 1909. Her Death certificate, with information provided by her son Daniel, lists her husband as John, and her father/mother as Daniel and Jane (Shanahan) Shanahan. Since I know her husband was really named Daniel, I presume her father to be John, and that the names John and Daniel were reversed on the certificate.
What I didn’t know until I read Michael O’Shea’s postings, was that Margaret was from Dunbeacon.
I would love to understand any information about the Shanahan’s from Dunbeacon, especially information that could connect siblings to Margaret, or to John or Jane. This would point to a time period of 1825 or prior.
[And in the “it’s small world” category, my wife and I lived in Rochester, NY for 14 years. And she is a graduate of SUNY Oswego.]
Regards to all,
John Caffrey
