Hi there,

I have only recently found a John McKail age 12 in the 1861 Census for Monkton living in Monkton village with stepfather Quintin Dykes age 33 and mother Marion nee Murphy age 45 ?? (47) - there was also a married stepdaughter Margaret Tudhope age 24 presumably sister to John with two children John age 2 & David age 1.5months.

As yet I have no details of the father McKail as up until now I was unaware that Marion Murphy had been married before Quintin Dykes.

Marion Murphy was the daughter of my 3xggfather James Murphy & Margaret Connel (McConnel). She was born 8 June 1814 @ Monkton.

I have only been able to find one son for Quintin Dykes & Marion Murphy - Quintin born 8 November 1853 but he was not at home on the census day.

I will let you know when I find the marriage and birth details of John & Margaret McKail.
