Research on the Iron Mines believes me to believe this was a fraud attempt on our House Ancestors. The colleted funds disapeared and no one ever saw a letter from the US Government stating they were willing to settle the case for $300,000. Many of the 300 so called heirs to the House family were not even related, or could prove a connection. I am sorry my grandfather helping his wife's mother in the House Heirs try to solve the claim, lost a considerable sum of money and my father had to quit high school to help the family and was never able to attend college.
