One of the problems with the Harlan KY and Lee VA (Southwest Virginia) Blantons is that people blindly copy a genealogy that ultimately goes back to Noah Bradley's "My Father's Family." He includes lines from the Tidewater Blantons with whom there is no evidence of a connection. He also includes Womack-Blanton lines, which we now know carry Womack Y-DNA.
However, it appears that the research after 1800 could be accurate, even though unrelated families are mixed together. By that time, family records were better, so he may have gotten the information from them. He shows a Jesse Blanton, b. ca. 1814, as the son of William and Susannah Brock Blanton. Jesse of Clark MO is the only one who could be he, unless he died before 1850 or did not appear in censuses. The posted genealogies show his death in 1876, but no sources, I would be a little skeptical of the date.
