I have no idea who my father is. My birth Mother died young and told no one who her boyfriend was. Genealogy and genetic genealogy (particularly researching for yDNA matches) is the only route open to me.

I am also interested in my family history, as I don't have any.

I think 'getting to know' my ancestors is useful, because I believe it can give me a point of reference as to my place in the greater scheme of things.

I am satisfying my primitive hunting instincts, without killing.

It is also rewarding to do detective work that is related to your own origins. In my case I'm working on a 50 year old mystery. The more impossible the task the greater the potential satisfaction.

I can recommend it if you like a challenge.
