There are alot of spains buried in cloughprior,they are all the same family,a number of priests in the family also buried there,i think the oldest gravestone of the spains i saw said there were merchants but there are a number of gravestones hard to read now,my family are also buried there and still are i live in nenagh,my ggg grandfather married winifred spain,their buried there,the headstone is there with names on it early 1800's in the old gothic writing and like i said our family are still being buried in that plot and all the spains are buried behind them and elsewhere in the graveyard.The graveyard is very well looked after and won awards for the way it is kept and is still in use today.I d'ont know about the myth of the spanish armada but i've heard that story years ago.
