You have no idea how happy your message has made me! I have been searching for years to find out who my great grandfather was and have been using the Skating Rink as my starting point, and up until this point have not been able to find very much.
It certainly does have quite a history! If you know of anyway of finding out the names of the people who worked there around 1917 I would be forever grateful. I thought that it may be possible that my great grandmother may have frequented the rink and this is where she and William (?) may have met. Her name was Constance Amelia Mee. I know her family is listed on electoral rolls at the following - 1919 - Wynnum, Oxley, Queensland, 1913 - Brisbane South, Oxley, Queenslan, 1913 - Taringa, Brisbane, Queensland, 1913 - Brisbane South, Oxley, Queensland, 1913 - Bundaberg, Wide Bay, Queensland. Im not sure if these places are near the rink.
If there is anymore information or ideas on finding out William's identity I would be forever grateful.
I am still quite overwhelmed at your close connection withe the rink and very excited to investigate this further!
Kind Regards
Dimity Sharpe
