Family Legends?

John Hill III  (View posts) Posted: 15 Apr 2001 2:07AM GMT
Well, I could throw in a spoiler right now and ruin all the fun, but that's not my way. I like things to play out in their own proper time, so I'll disclose this in a serial manner, with a new bit to be added depending on the level of response to each 'teaser'. There's a grand historical legend that was told to me by a relative some years ago.
It starts with the name itself. 'Dl' is not a frequently used letter in Polish (let alone English), especially as an Initial in a family name. Try searching any geneology (even from Chicago) for any name with that initial, you'll see. So the name is somewhat special, aside from being unpronouncable.
As in most languages, Polish names have meaning. The 'ski' at the end signifies 'Son of'.
What does the first part mean? What are we the Children of?
The legend continues after I get a correct (oh, OK, I'll accept any) reply.
