Classification: Lookup
Surnames: Maxwell / Dee / Segura
According to the 1870 United States Census, Lucien B. Maxwell had adopted 7 Navajo Children. As indicated on the census these Children: Guadalupe (14yrs) Female /
Nestora (12yrs) Female /
Maria (7 yrs) Female /
Ralphael (13yrs) Male /
Francisco (13yrs) Male /
Manuel (9 yrs) Male /
Ramon (12yrs) Male /
Were all Indians found in Navaho Indian Country.
I am the descendent to Guadalupe as she is my Great,Great Grandmother. My search is for a Birth/adoption or Death records of all the Children. I am also looking for any information on Indian/White Adoptions and marriages during the 1870s.
I appreciate any help in this matter.
It is a family belief that Guadalupe had married William Dee who resided in the same location and was also one of Col. Christopher (Kit) Carson's Soldiers in the 1st. Infantry New Mexico Volunteers. 1861-1865 +/- a few years.
Guadalupe had a child named Isabelle Dee, given up for adoption to Francisco & Fuastina Segura of Trinidad, Colorado.
William Dee, moved to Tombstone, AZ. and became the town Blacksmith. 1875-1890's.
Please help me find the Documentation that may not be made public. Thank you.
