My grandmother left us a typewritten copy of the Helm lineage of southeastern Pennsylvania, as written by J. Charles Helm in 1958.

It includes the descendants of JOHN HELM, husband of MARGARETA MARKLEY, born 1735 in Germany or Switzerland and settled in Strasburg Township, Lancaster County, PA. This John Helm fought in the American Revolution with the Pennsylvania Militia and has been accepted as a DAR patriot.

He had four sons--JACOB HELM (b. 1766), JOHN HELM (b. 10/17/1773), GEORGE HELM (b. 1778), and MARTIN HELM (b. 1784, no children).
