I have been looking for John Goodman’s parents, he married Mary Hubbard. He is my great-great-grandfather. My grandmother Mona Skaggs (daughter of: Elizabeth Goodman, Daughter of: Mary Goodman) told me when I was younger that John went by another last name because he had an severe altercation with someone in Floyd county and fled to Elliott. She said his real last name was Wilson. Despite not knowing his parents at this time, I’m leaning toward thinking that possibly his father was a Wilson and his mother was a Goodman, and he maybe went by his mother’s maiden name? --------------------When my grandmother died she was buried in the Skaggs-Wilson Cemetery, yet there is not one Wilson buried there that I know of. This caused me to start digging. If you know John Goodman’s aka Wilson’s background, or the people involved in the altercation, I would really appreciate anything!!!

""My g-grandfather Tom, and his wife, Alpha Hubbard, left Floyd Co., Ky to go to Texarkana(I think) with his sister Mary Goodman and her husband John. Tom and John got in a fight with some men and left in a hurry. The wives couldn't leave until later as Mary was pregnant. As soon as she was able to travel, they came back to Floyd County.
They must have been back in Floyd County by 1890 as that's when one of their children was born. Some of John and Mary Goodman's descendants went to Elliott County. My son has a good friend who is a Goodman and who lives on the same property John lived on (I think). My e-mail address is
kmarcum@se-tel.com. Please contact me.""
