Mrs. Pope, 74, Rites are Held

Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Smotherman Pope, 74, who died Sunday at her home in the Link Community after an extended illness, were held this afternoon at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Thomas Rutledge, officiated at the rites which were held at the Old Leb Methodist church.

A native of Rutherford County, Mrs. Pope was the daughter of Barton and Queen Reed Smotherman. Her husband, the late W.C. Pope, died twenty years ago.

She is survived by two sons, Clarance of Murfreesboro and Joe of Nashville; two daughters, Mrs. Belle and Mrs. Gladys Garrett, of Link; a half-brother, Ollie Spence of Murfreesboro; a sister Mrs. Lockie Stem of Murfreesboro and a step-brother, Fate Spence, of the Deason community.

She is survived also by 15 Grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
