Alexis Hamelin and his son Joseph left St. Remi, Qc, to settle in Clinton County around 1840. Both are buried at Mooers. Joseph's son Amos married a Laura Lachance around 1875. Joseph's son Gilbert built a house at 1600 Maple St. in Plattsburgh around 1903. It was still standing in the 1950s. Is it still? Gilbert married a Sophie Lareau, daughter of Joseph Lareau and Sophia Sharron. Their son Rodney was my father. Am interested in any information, especially RE: Sophie Lareau and her parents, Amos & Laura, Gilbert's other children (Lillian & Gertrude Hamelin), and the house at 1600 Maple.
