I am making slow progress on my line of Brooks from London and East London.
For a long time I was looking for a cousin, Louie Brooks who married my grandfather's brother George Brooks. She has been located so to speak. Louie (Louise) Grace Brooks, born 1884, birth registered Lambeth, London, daughter of Isaac Thomas Brooks, Commercial Traveller and Rachel nee Pearce.
It now seems that the father of Isaac Thomas Brooks is John Brooks and the mother likely to be Mary.
Now, the father of my great grandfather, George Brooks, was also John Brooks so it might be reasonable to assume that the said John Brooks is the father of both Isaac Thomas Brooks and George Brooks my great grandfather which would then make the the cousin relationship between George the son and his cousin Louie to be correct.
A census record, 1891, for Stoke Newington, London lists the following:
BROOKS, Isaac T, born 1859, Commercial Traveller, London
BROOKS, Rachel (wife), born 1855, Lambeth, London
At the time of the census, also living in the household were:
BROOKS:
Amy born 1880
Edith borh 1883
Louis born 1885
Thomas J born 1886
Lillian born 1889
I have a marriage certificate for George Brooks junior and his wife Louie Grace Brooks - she was known to us as Louie. It gives the name of George's father as George Brooks and the father of Louie as Isaac Thomas Brooks, Commercial Traveller. So that would seem to make the rest stack up.
A supporting birth record for Louise Grace Brooks, 1884, Lambeth London also helps.
Do they belong to anyone else here?
