JACKIE LANGSTON-MALONE
JACKIE LANGSTON-MALONE, 58, of Portales, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 24, 1942, in Portales to Dessie and Dewey F. Langston.
Langston-Malone attended Portales Public Schools and graduated from Portales High School in 1961. She attended Eastern New Mexico University and later studied at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
She taught sign language for five years at the New Mexico School for the Deaf in Albuquerque. She lived in Albuquerque from 1965 until 1980, when she returned to Portales. She enjoyed collecting antiques and ran an antique and collectible shop in her home for five years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Portales. she was preceded in death by her mother, Dessie D. Langston, on Dec. 19, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, R. Carl Malone of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Joe Malone of Denver; her father, Dewey F. Langston of Portales; one sister, Judy Kaye Langston of Las Cruces; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Portales. The Rev. Philip Fike will officiate.
Burial will be at the Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Frank Murray, Cash Prude, Jim Love, Jack Scott, Jim Harmon, Cody Steffan, George Murray and Mike Rierson.
Honorary pallbearers will be her classmates and friends.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
