I have traced my maternal line back to a Martha Sarah Harmer who married a man named James William Lade. She had two brothers: James and Sandell Harmer. Her parents names were Samuel and Mary. Her brother, James, married a woman named Elizabeth Patterson, who I have photos of. All of these people were born in England and the Harmers came to America some time between 1832 and 1850.
My problem is I can't seem to find James or Sandell Harmer on any records after the 1850 census. I know at least one of them must have stayed in Albany because I've located pictures of Harmers taken there at later dates.
Also, I'm at a lost as to where else to look for Mary's maiden name. If anyone can help, I would be very appreciative.
