I have a first person account from his granddaughter that James Samuel Oscroft was a transported convict. Unfortunately the account is from the 1980s and the granddaughter (nee. Alice Margaret Caroline Oscroft m. Frank Harold Gregory Moorhouse) died in 1991.

d. 08 May 1903 Rookwood, Sydney, NSW
All his children were born in Hay, NSW and vicinity.

Don't have: No record at Victoria or NSW prov sites of convict or assisted or unassisted immigration.
